UPDATE: Hit-and-run kills San Jose man, CHP investigating

UDPATE, AUGUST 14, 8;54 a.m.- CHP officers in are investigating a deadly hit and run crash that happened on Thursday night around 10:30 p.m.

It happened on Highway 101, just south of San Martin Avenue.

CHP said a San Jose man was in the middle of the lane when a vehicle heading south struck the man and took off. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man on the shoulder of the road.

Officers said they tried to perform CPR on the victim until emergency personnel arrived, but the man died on scene.

The crash is still under investigation. CHP said it’s unclear if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the crash.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- Around 10:50 p.m. Thursday night, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Highway 101 and San Martin Road and was pronounced dead.

Officers are still looking for the vehicle that hit him.
