Convicted felon and registered sex offender arrested in Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- On June 19, CHP Santa Cruz arrested a 42-year-old man near Lee St. at West Beach Rd. in Watsonville after pulling him over in a stolen gray Dodge pickup.

Police discovered a loaded, unregistered firearm on his person after the man fled the vehicle and attempted a foot pursuit. CHP officers apprehended the man after he recklessly evaded the officers, according to CHP Santa Cruz's Facebook page.

"The pickup came to a stop in the city of Watsonville on Sixth St., and the male attempted to flee on foot but was unsuccessful," said CHP Santa Cruz.

The man was taken into custody for felony evading, DUI, assault on a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
