Second suspect arrested in King City attempted murder
KING CITY, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 4/27/2020 3 p.m. King City police said they have arrested a second person in connection to a Saturday shooting at a gas station.
Police said they arrested 21-year-old King City resident Hector Duarte. They had already arrested Jorge Cortes.
Police said the shooting started as a fight between for males at the gas station, and shots were fired when a fifth male arrived.
Police said Cortes was the suspected shooter and that he left the area with Duarte. Both were later detained for questioning, and Cortes was arrested.
The victim of the shooting was treated at Mee Memorial Hospital for non life-threatening injuries before being transferred to Natividad.
PREVIOUS STORY: King City police have arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting that occurred at a gas station Saturday.
21-year-old King City resident Jorge Cortes has been taken into custody after he allegedly shot another person at Valero Gas Station on Broadway Street. The shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m.
Police say that an altercation between four males broke out at the station, and that shots were fired when a fifth male entered the fray.
The suspected shooter, later identified as Cortes, fled the scene with 21-year-old Hector Duarte.
Personnel with the King City Police Department were able to detain Cortes and Duarte for questioning, which subsequently led to Cortes' arrest.
The shooting victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at Mee Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Natividad.
