Abducted prelate of Nigeria Methodist church regains freedom

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Police in Nigeria say the head of the Methodist Church Nigeria has regained his freedom a day after being abducted in the country’s southeast. Samuel Kanu Uche was abducted Sunday along with two other senior clerics on a highway in the Umunneochi area of state. Police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna tells The Associated Press late Monday that the two other clerics also were freed. He provided no further details o how they were released. Nigeria is Africa’s most populous nation and abductions for ransom have been a worrying trend.
