LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Nearly two years after the botched police raid that killed Breonna Taylor, the only officer facing criminal charges is standing trial. Brett Hankison, now a former officer, is charged with wanton endangerment for shooting through Taylor’s apartment into the home of her neighbors. Day 1 of testimony featured the neighbor who said he narrowly escaped with his life and a handful of police officers who joined the raid. All of them testified that they couldn’t recall or didn’t see Hankison firing his weapon. Evidence showed he fired 10 times into Taylor’s apartment through a glass door and a window that were cloaked so that no one could clearly see inside.
