Phoenix police fatally shoot man armed with a sharp object

PHOENIX (AP) — The Phoenix Police Department says police responding to a reported stabbing fatally shot a man armed with a sharp object after he refused to drop the weapon. They say officers responded to reports of a woman stabbed around 1 p.m. Monday. Police say they believed the woman and man knew each other and that she was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. According to police, the man died at a hospital. He was identified as 30-year-old Emilio Chamizo. No officers were injured in the shooting.
