Multiple people killed after a private plane crashes into the Tierrasanta area of San Diego, firefighters say

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KION-TV) -- San Diego Fire confirms multiple people are dead after a plane crashed in the Tierrasanta area of San Diego, sparking multiple fires and causing chaos early Thursday morning.
San Diego Fire says all of the people killed were onboard a private plane that crashed into the neighborhood.
Jet fuel from the downed plane spread throughout the streets, causing multiple cars to catch fire.
Investigators say the plane that crash normally holds around 8 to 10 people, but it's unclear how many were actually on the plane.
The plane itself was traveling out of the Midwest, according to San Diego Fire.
Upward of 10 homes were damaged by the crash in the area, which is described as a military housing neighborhood.
San Diego Fire is working with the FAA to see how many people were on the plane when it went down.
Another briefing is scheduled before noon.
