Fresh off his run at the Big Sur International Marathon, KION's Austin Castro talks about preparing for a marathon while also chatting about the benefits running and exercise can have on mental health.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, running can improve anxiety and provide calm during a normally hectic work or school life.

Rochester Regional health says running in a group can also multiply mental health benefits.

A study from the Journal of Affective Disorders finds a running therapy program can have similar effectiveness with using antidepressant medication.

In the full interview clip above, Austin talks about how to take those first steps toward starting your own running routine and shares his journey to Big Sur.
