Crash slows traffic, takes down utility pole on Highway 68

COUNTY OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- A utility pole along Highway 68 near Torero Drive was knocked down by a crash just before noon Saturday.

Our reporter on scene said two vehicles, a truck and a Mercedes, were involved and both were on the shoulder of the westbound lane.

One man was in the driver seat of the Mercedes and appeared conscious; a second person was on the ground outside the vehicles and also appeared conscious.

Our reporter said two firetrucks and two CHP cars responded to the scene.

Traffic was still moving in both directions.
