LIMA, Peru (AP) — China’s leader Xi Jinping met for the last time with U.S. President Joe Biden but was already looking ahead to President-elect Donald Trump and his “America first” policies, saying Beijing “is ready to work with a new administration.” The two leaders gathered Saturday on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. During their meeting, Xi cautioned the U.S. to “make the wise choice” to keep relations stable. Without mentioning Trump’s name, Xi appeared to signal his concern that the incoming president’s protectionist rhetoric on the campaign trail could send the U.S.-China relationship into another valley.
