Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted in Monterey

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Alzheimer's Association held the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's at Custom House Plaza in Monterey Saturday.

The organization said 68 teams, or 372 people in total, participated this year. They were able to raise $145,848 towards their goal of $195,000.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and that number is expected to reach nearly 13 million by 2050. It was also the fifth-leading cause of death among people 65 and older in 2021.
