New police chief for Salinas in background check; sources

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) – The search for a new police chief in Salinas may be wrapping up soon. Sources tell KION that current San Jose Police Captain Carlos Acosta is currently going through a background check to be the city’s newest top cop.

Acosta has been with the San Jose Police Department since 1998, according to his LinkedIn page.

KION has learned that is he slated to start early to mid-November, pending the background check.
