Salinas Police investigating Saturday shooting leaving a 17-year-old in critical condition

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Salinas Police Department is investigating a shooting Saturday night that left a 17-year-old in critical, but stable condition.

According to Salinas PD, the shooting took place on the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue in Salinas. Officers said, when they arrived to the scene, they found the male teen suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police add, the teen was taken to Natividad Medical Center, where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

Additionally, officers located a 40-year-old second victim with a gun shot wound to his leg. Officials said he was treated at Natividad Medical Center and released. Witnesses tell police they say three men fleeing the scene of the shooting and no vehicle description was given.

KION News asked police about any connection between the two victims and if there is any ongoing danger to the public. We are awaiting a response from police and will update this article as new information becomes available.
