New acting police chief appointed to The Salinas Police Department

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) – There is a new “acting” police chief at The Salinas Police Department. Commander Danny Warner has taken on the role of acting chief, according to city officials.

Commander Warner is a Salinas native and has been working with the department for 23 years. Commander Warner just recently graduated from the FBI national academy.

Commander Warner takes over the job from Asst. Chief John Murray. This, comes just a few days after KION learned that Murray was not selected for the job.

Asst. Chief John Murray will stay on with the department for now. This is a developing story, and we will keep you updated.
