Capitola announces strategic 5-year plan and invites public input
CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Capitola announced Friday that they are launching their Strategic Planning Project, which is an initiative to shape the city's future through long-term planning.
They said this project includes strategic goals over the next five years to ensure Capitola continues to grow and evolve for the needs of the community.
Capitola says that the plan will address key points to achieve and provide a framework for decision-makers to allocate resources. The goal of this 5-year plan is to create a "living document" that allows for flexibility and meets the city's adjusting needs as future council members join the city, the city announced.
The city is encouraging the Capitola community to engage with the project, as well as to gather input from a diverse range of participants.
The project was originally announced during the Capitola Wharf's grand opening but will have a formal in-person community forum on Tuesday, October 1 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Capitola City Hall.
Residents will be asked to participate in how they envision Capitola over the next five years, according to the city. The city also plans to include surveys, stakeholder interviews and a data collection portal.
City leadership says that they will meet in mid-November to begin drafting the strategic plan and hope to have a final adaptation in early 2025.
