LONDON (AP) — Former BBC news anchor Huw Edwards has been given a suspended prison sentence for indecent images of children on his phone. Edwards, once one of the most prominent media figures in Britain, was sentenced Monday to a six-month prison term suspended for two years. Edwards pleaded guilty in Westminster Magistrates’ Court in July to three counts of making indecent images of children, a charge related to photos sent to him on the WhatsApp messaging service by a convicted pedophile. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring says Edwards was perhaps the most recognized journalist in Britain, but his long-earned reputation is in tatters.
