Beached baby orca at Carmel State Beach

CARMEL, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Point Lobos Foundation announced Tuesday that the Marine Mammal Center and State Parks personnel are attempting to rescue a stranded orca that they think is a baby at Carmel State Beach.

They said that they've been trying to get the whale back into the ocean this afternoon so that it can reunite with its pod.

A KION reporter is currently on the scene and confirms that the orca is still alive and being transported by Marine Mammal Center in a vehicle back to the water.

This is a developing story and will be updated as details are released.
