Widow of North Salinas shooting victim speaks out: family devastated and calls for justice
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) — The widow of a man killed in Monday night's shooting in North Salinas is speaking out about the devastating loss of her husband.
Police responded to a call just after 7 a.m. Monday, reporting a shooting near North Main Street and Espinosa road.
When they arrived on scene, they found a victim who had been fatally shot.
The search for the suspect is ongoing and i was able to sit down and speak with his wife about how the community is showing their support.
"Father of three children and three grandchildren," Nerelida Santos said. "Hardworking, loving father and a good husband." "My partner of 32 years was taken from me for no reason.

Describing him both as a loving father and husband.
My husband didn't deserve to end his days like this because he was a hardworking person, good father, good husband." Nerelida Santos said. "His routine of going for a walk but unfortunately he went out that day, he didn't come back."
Santos' wife says while she is in the dark about many details surrounding the incident, the community has shown an overwhelming amount of support.
"Well thank God the family and the whole community has responded to us," Nerelida Santos said. "We are getting a lot of support. "Well, the only thing I ask for is justice for my husband, because I don't want another family to suffer what my family is suffering."
The family is still taking time to process the loss of Santos. A father, friend and husband.
We reached out to the police department for any updates but they declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation.
