Highway 152 at Carlton Road closed after crash knocks down pole

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- CHP Santa Cruz has shut down Highway 152 near Carlton Road after a crash early Sunday morning.

Based on a photo provided by the CHP, the car appears to have knocked down a power pole in the area.

Minor injuries were reported from this crash, but in the same notice the CHP shared concerns about people driving while drowsy.

The CHP said drowsy driving was responsible for 693 deadly crashes in 2022, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

There's no estimated time to reopen Highway 152 and drivers are being asked to use Highway 129 as an alternate route until the scene is cleared.
