Nacimiento-Fergusson Road expected to reopen by August 2024, federal officials say
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- A Monterey County road that has been closed for three years will finally see the light of day by August 2024.
The U.S. Forest Service said that they are anticipate a full reopening of Nacimiento Fergusson Road after the road has been damaged since Jan. 2021.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said the road is currently closed to all visitors, tourists and non-residents by the U.S. Forest Service.
The road has been closed since January 2021 when a winter storm damaged 13 sites around the road.
In January and March 2023, more storms caused additional damages to nine sites.
Part of the site repairs include embankment construction, retaining wall construction and culvert repairs.
