Otter 841 has returned to the 831

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- A Central Coast staple has returned to Santa Cruz.

Otter 841 has returned to familiar waters in Santa Cruz. She was last seen at Steamer lane on West Cliff drive over the weekend. The last time she was seen was at the end of December before the storms took over Santa Cruz County.

According to local photographer Mark Woodward, she was spotted getting on another surfboard.

“I was surprised, but more than that I was relieved she disappeared at the end of December right before we had a whole lot of really big storms with massive waves that did all kinds of damage down our coast, so I’m glad nothing happened to her," Woodward said.

A couple of people visiting Santa Cruz said that they hope surfers steer clear of Otter 841.

“Leave it alone, don't touch it, don't get too close to it," said William Range of San Francisco.

A spokesperson with the U.S. Department Fish and Wildlife said that they have no plans to capture Otter 841 at this time.
