21-year-old man arrested on attempted murder charges, police say

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON FEB. 11, 2024 AT 4:57 PM- On Sunday morning Hollister Police arrested a 21-year-old man who is accused of shooting at a juvenile on Feb. 6.

Investigators said they used a FLOCK safety camera that was able to isolate the suspect's vehicle which was a Ford truck.

Officers said they located the vehicle on the 1400 block of Fourth Street and they were able to locate the vehicle.

Hollister Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Rene Lopez who admitted to shooting the juvenile which took place after a verbal altercation. Investigators were able to recover the gun used in the shooting.

Lopez was arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail on multiple charges including attempted homicide and multiple gun charges.

His bail has been set at $570,000.

Hollister Police looking for multiple suspects who allegedly shot a juvenile outside of an apartment

A juvenile suffered non life-threatening injuries on Tuesday night after they were shot at by multiple suspects, per Hollister Police.

Investigators said the shooting took place just after 11:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Third Street regarding a report of shots fired.

When officers got to the scene, they located a male juvenile who was suffering from one gunshot wound.

The juvenile was transported to a local trauma center and appears to have suffered a non life-threatening injury, police said.

Investigators said the juvenile was outside of an apartment near the road when a person who was inside a white pickup truck started shooting multiple rounds at the victim.

Witnesses told officers that the truck fled the scene and that there were multiple suspects involved.
