Santa Cruz Police still looking for mountain lion spotted in various neighborhoods
Santa Cruz, Calif. (KION-TV) Update June 29, 2023, at 12:25 p.m.- Santa Cruz Police said they are looking for a mountain lion that they have received several confirmed sightings of over teh past few days.
Police said "Yesterday, the pictured mountain lion was lying on the fence line between an office building and the apartment complex in the 700 block of Frederick Street."
Police are working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to safely capture and relocated the big cat. Police ask anyone who encounters the mountain lion to back away slowly, be large, shout and keep children close.
It’s important to remember that many areas of our city are bordered by parks and open spaces that are home to all kinds of wildlife, including mountain lions. Do not feed wildlife; feeding prey invites predators. Remove any water sources.

Santa Curz Police said they lifted a shelter-in-place issued on Tuesday morning after a mountain lion was spotted.
Police had asked residents in the neighborhood of Gault Street and Darwin Street to Seabright Avenue and Frederick Street to shelter in place.
Biologists are still in the area trying to monitor and find the big cat.
If you see a mountain lion, do not approach, call 911.
