MCSO: BASE jumper not found after reports of fall on Bixby Bridge
BIG SUR, Calif. (KION-TV) UPDATE JUNE 20, 2022, 10:45 a.m.-- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said that they had canceled their search after receiving calls that someone BASE jumped off the Bixby bridge Monday morning.
As of 9:26 a.m, Cal Fire BEU and Sheriff's drone did not locate anyone, so their search was canceled.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said they suspect a BASE jumper took off before units arrived. They didn't hear anyone crying in distress or locate a vehicle.
CHP: Law officials looking for Bixby Bridge jumper whose parachute didn't open
CHP said they, as well as Cal Fire and the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, are looking for a jumper whose parachute didn't open Monday morning.
CHP said they have not found anyone but have more units joining the search.
CHP added that the Bixby Bridge is a known spot for BASE jumpers.
