Pedestrian killed in deadly accident in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) A car hit and killed a pedestrian on Ocean Street in Santa Cruz Tuesday evening at around 6:39 p.m.

Police said the driver involved didn't appear to be impaired and was fully cooperating with officers who responded.

The car was described as a dark-colored sedan that was traveling south on Ocean Street when the driver hit the victim, but according to police, the driver came to a stopped after realizing what happened.

Santa Cruz Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving efforts for an estimated 20 minutes before the person was declared dead. The victim hasn't been identified, as family members are being notified of the incident.
