Motorcyclist dies in crash on Highway 1 near Waddell Creek

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 4/19/2021 11 a.m. A 59-year-old San Francisco man has died in a crash on Highway 1 near Waddell Creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators say a Los Gatos woman in a white Subaru was heading south on Highway 1, and for unknown reasons, she did not see the motorcycle ahead of her.

She hit the back of the motorcycle, and the rider was ejected. The CHP said that despite life-saving efforts, the man died of his injuries. The driver had minor injuries and declined treatment.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the CHP said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.

CHP says it happened around 5:30 p.m. between a motorcycle and a vehicle. Details are still limited and the cause is under investigation.
