Monolith found in San Luis Obispo County destroyed by vandals

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KION and KEYT) A metal obelisk that appeared at the top of Pine Mountain Loop in Atascadero has been destroyed, KION's sister station in the area reports.
A video streamed online shows a group of Orange County men destroying it and replacing it with a wooden cross after traveling to the area. The cross is not in the area anymore, according to KEYT.
The men apparently streamed the five hour drive and destruction on the website DLIVE, and at least three of them are allegedly seen pushing the monolith down while chanting "Christ is King" and "America First." In the video, they also reference Jesus Christ, outer space aliens and undocumented immigrants while allegedly making racist statements.
KEYT reports that it is still unclear if the men will face any charges, but Atascadero Mayor Heather Moreno shared her disappointment.
“We are upset that these young men felt the need to drive five hours to come into our community and vandalize the monolith. The monolith was something unique and fun in an otherwise stressful time,” Moreno said.
The city said the police department is looking into the incident.
The obelisk is similar in shape and size to others in Utah and Romania. Like the others, its origin is still a mystery,
