Crews assist Cal Fire BEU as it sends a strike team to Southern California fires
CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION) Firefighters with Cal Fire CZU based in Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties have been sent to assist in Monterey and San Benito Counties.
They said they will be helping to cover emergency response in the area because Cal Fire BEU has sent a Strike Team to Southern California to help battle wildfires.
As recently as Wednesday night, a new fire has started in Orange County. The Bond Fire is burning in the Silverado Canyon, and so far it has burned more than 3,600 acres.
