US Attorney: Suspected boogaloo member arrested during Carrillo investigation for enticing minor to engage in sexual activity
SAN FRANCISCO (KION) A suspected member of the boogaloo movement has been arrested in the Bay Area for allegedly enticing a 15-year-old girl to engage in the production of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Investigators said the suspect, 33-year-old Robert Jesus Blancas, was identified by the FBI as part of an anti-government militia group associated with the boogaloo movement while they were investigating Steven Carrillo and Robert Justus, Jr. Carrillo and Justus are both suspected boogaloo members accused of killing a federal officer in Oakland. Carrillo is also accused of killing Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office during an ambush in Ben Lomond.
In the criminal complaint against Blancas, investigators said they searched his electronic devices and found not just evidence of his association with the boogaloo movement, but evidence of activities related to child pornography.
Investigators believe Blancas met a 15-year-old girl through the online platform Whisper in April or May 2020 in a forum labeled "DDLG." In the complaint, the FBI said it believes that is an abbreviation for "Daddy-Daughter Little Girl" and that men use the site to find young girls to fulfill fantasies about sexual activity with young girls.
Through at least August, investigators said Blancas exchanged thousands of messages through multiple platforms with the victim, including instructions to send him pornographic photos and videos of herself. The images and videos sent depict a young girl in the bedroom of a young girl, according to the FBI.
It is also believed that Blancas had prior sexually explicit conversations with users who said they were 13, 15 and 16 years old.
Blancas is charged with enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity when he was arrested Tuesday. If convicted, he could face ten years to life in prison, a minimum of five years to life of supervised release and a maximum of a $250,000 fine.
