Sheriff’s Office: Watsonville man admits to series of burglaries in San Juan Bautista

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. (KION) A Watsonville man has admitting committing a series of burglaries in San Juan Bautista, according to the San Benito County Sheriff's Office.

The burglaries happened at the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, according to the Sheriff's Office, and the suspect, 18-year-old Manuel Hernandez, was identified with the help of Watsonville detectives and Santa Cruz County probation officers.

Det. Jason Leist with the San Benito County Sheriff's Office interviewed Hernandez at the Santa Cruz County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges, and Leist said Hernandez admitted to the crimes.

Hernandez also admitted to using a stolen credit card to make a large purchase at a Gilroy Home Depot, according to the Sheriff's Office.

When Hernandez is released from the Santa Cruz County Jail, he will face charges in San Benito and Santa Clara Counties.
