GILROY, Calif. (KION) A suspected DUI driver has died after side swiping another vehicle and crashing, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said officers tried to stop the driver of a Ford Mustang on suspicion of DUI just after 1 a.m. Sunday on Highway 101 north of Leavesley Road. The driver did not stop, but instead led officers on a pursuit, according to the CHP.

While driving on Highway 101, the driver reportedly changed speeds and lanes a few times, but eventually it side swiped a Chevy Silverado with two people inside.

The Mustang overturned, and the driver was trapped inside when it landed on the roof. Officers tried to save him, but he died of his injuries. The two people in the Silverado were not injured.

The driver's identity has not been released.
