One of four suspects arrested in connection to Salinas armed robbery
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A man has been arrested on armed robbery-related charges in connection to an incident early Sunday morning.
The robbery happened near Ambrose Drive and Alisal Street just after midnight when two people said they were leaving a party.
They told police that they were confronted by four or five people who brandished a gun and took their wallets, cell phones and some clothing while talking about their gang affiliation. The suspects left, but they allegedly returned when the victims started getting into their car and took the car keys.
When officers got to the scene, they got descriptions of the suspects and started searching the area. They found four people who matched the description and started running away and jumping fences.
Officers were able to catch 22-year-old David Ruvalcaba in the 700 block of W. Acacia Street, but they did not find the other three suspects. In the area where Ruvalcaba was detained, officers said they found a loaded ghost gun.
Ruvalcaba was identified as one of the suspects, and officers said he had some of the stolen items. He was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail.
