Puppy named after Cal Fire CZU battalion chief
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) A new puppy has been named for one of the people who helped save his owner's home from the CZU Lightning Complex Fires.
@ColburnMorrison shared a post on social media saying that he named one of his new puppies, Mark, after Battalion Chief Mark Brunton, who Morrison said helped protect his home from the fires.
The fires destroyed 1,490 structures, and many of them were homes in Santa Cruz County. The fire broke out during a dry lightning storm on Aug. 16, and it was fully contained on Sept. 22.
