Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 10/21/2020 9 a.m. Items stolen from a burned property in Boulder Creek have been returned to the owner, but a criminal investigation into the theft is continuing.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said a person submitted a tip after seeing a video shared by the department, saying they knew where the items were. Since then, the sentimental items have been returned.

"Reuniting this family with these sentimental belongings made our night as they have already gone through so much in the past few months," the department said in a statement.

The video showed two people appearing to steal the items from the property on Little Basin Road.

The female in the video is described as having long brown hair and wearing a black sweatshirt, black or blue shorts and sandals. The man is described as having curly dark brown hair and tattoos on his right bicep. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and sandals.

Both were seen leaving the area in a silver SUV that may be a newer model Toyota Hybrid Highlander.
