Salinas man who pleaded guilty to multiple burglaries sentenced to prison
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A Salinas resident has been sentenced to 13 years and four months in state prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges.
Robert Dee Davis, 36, was charged with two counts of first-degree residential burglary, one count of vehicle theft and one count of grand theft.
The first residential burglary happened on July 4, 2018 when the Monterey County District Attorney's Office said he was caught on camera breaking into a Salinas home with a crowbar and burglarizing a detached shed. He reportedly stole more than $11,000 in cash, jewelry and tools. At the time, he had a stolen vehicle that was later found bleached, stripped and crashed into a ravine.
On Aug. 28 of that year, Davis stole more than $6,000 in jewelry, electronics and other property from another Salinas home he broke into, according to the DA's Office.
Just three days later, the DA's Office said Davis broke into an unlocked vehicle and Carmel Valley. He stole electronics and the vehicle owner's bank cards, which he used to spend more than $950.
On Sept. 1, 2018, Davis was arrested by the California Highway Patrol. He had property stolen during the burglaries on Aug. 28 and 31 in his vehicle.
Davis had a prior strike conviction for a 2013 home burglary in Santa Cruz County.
