Pinnacles National Park to reopen west entrance

pinnacles national park

PAICINES, Calif. (KION) The National Park Service announced that the west entrance of Pinnacles National Park will reopen Friday, but all but a few trails will be closed.

The Bench and Sycamore trails are some of the only ones open because park officials are concerned about high fire danger and overloading fire response systems.

The west entrance near Soledad will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and an ADA trail on the west side, Prewett Point Trail, will be open. The ranch road through the Bacon Ranch will also be open.

Trail closures include climbing areas that are accessed from the closed trails.

Vehicles without a valid handicapped parking permit or bicycles will not be allowed past the Pinnacles Campground.

Park officials said the closures will be in effect until fire conditions change, but they are evaluating conditions every day.
