Driver arrested on DUI, possession of concealed gun charges in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A driver was arrested in Salinas overnight for allegedly driving under the influence and having a concealed gun.

The suspect, 22-year-old Jose Manuel Hernandez Barron, was pulled over by police at 12:45 a.m. for a vehicle code violation near Linwood Drive and Chaparral Street.

The officer said he saw a cartridge and magazine on the floorboard of the vehicle when he walked up, and when Barron was removed from the vehicle, police said he admitted to having a gun in his waistband.

Officers said he had a handgun and showed signs of intoxication.

Barron was arrested and taken to the Monterey County Jail, but a passenger in the vehicle was released at the scene.
