Yosemite National Park closes due to smoke impact, air quality concerns
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KION) The National Park Service announced that Yosemite National Park will be closed starting at 5 p.m. Thursday due to "significant smoke impacts" and hazardous air quality.
It will be closed to all visitors and vehicles, and the park anticipates that it will be closed through at least the weekend. When conditions improve, the park said it will reopen to visitors.
The largest wildfire in the area around Yosemite is the Creek Fire burning between Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks have also closed.
