Three Monterey County State Parks reopening for day use

Point Lobos, Pfeiffer Big Sur among parks now closed until at least May 3rd

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Three parks that had been closed to visitors due to the Dolan Fire are reopening for day use.

California State Parks said Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and Andrew Molera State Park have reopened. Some trails are open, and limited parking is available.

In Garrapata State Park, the Soberanes Canyon Trail on the east side of Highway 1 has reopened.

The following parks along Highway 1 in the Big Sur area are still closed due to the fire:

  • Julia Pfeiffer Burns SP
  • John Little SNR
  • Limekiln SP
  • Pfeiffer Big Sur SP
  • Point Sur SHP

The Dolan Fire is currently 199,488 acres and 40% contained.
