Political rallies hitting the Central Coast
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION)
Elections are drawing near and more people are beginning to come out and make their voices heard this upcoming election.
Today, dozens of people from various parts of the Central Coast came out for a rally in Monterey in support of President Trump, saying rallies like these are a key element when moving forward this campaign season.
"He cares about the country and he does what's right and what we need," says Monterey Resident Kenneth Woods.
Others on the Central Coast say they feel the opposite.
"I'm going to have to go with Biden and Harrris because we don't have no choices and we need to get Trump out," says local Santa Cruz artist, Lyrical I.
"It's important to vote for at least a better option than what we have."
Both sides, however, said there is a lot at stake this upcoming election.
"Impeachment, COVID, riots, forrest fires, I mean, it's been cataclysmic, people have got to be looking at it," says Congressional Candidate, Jeff Gorman
One of the biggest concerns many Central Coast residents have is whether voting will be a challenge for those who were displaced by recent wildfires.
A Santa Cruz County official says more options for displaced residents are in the works.
"We are going to get a mobile voting unit so I can take it anywhere, so we can go to Davenport, Bonny Doon, any of these displaced areas, we can go to shelters," says Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin.
Community members say more events like these lay ahead and both sides say they want to send the public a message: to simply get out there and vote this November.
