Injured bobcat rescued from Santa Cruz Mountains
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 9/11/2020 12:30 p.m. Rebecca Dmytryk with Wildlife Emergency Services said an injured bobcat has been rescued from the area near Empire Grade and Alba.
Dmytryk said the bobcat was found severely dehydrated and thin with a singed coat and that it is in bad shape.
It is being taken to a local veterinarian for evaluation, fluids and pain medicine.
PREVIOUS STORY: Crews from Wildlife Emergency Services and Native Animal Rescue are on their way to rescue an injured bobcat in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to Rebecca Dmytryk with Wildlife Emergency Services.
She said the bobcat is near Empire Grade in the area burned by the CZU Lightning Complex Fires.
CHP reported that the bobcat was found sitting in the middle of the road, according to Dmytryk, and it appears to have been singed by fire. It also may have burned pads.
When it is rescued, it will be taken to a wildlife center for treatment.
