California ISO announces rolling power outages avoided
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) UPDATED 9/6/20 8:48 P.M. California ISO said they've lifted the Stage 2 emergency declaration and no outages were ordered by the grid operators.
The Flex alert ends at 9 p.m.
Residents will need to continue reducing energy use again Monday between 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. as another flex alert will be issued.
California ISO is also monitoring numerous wildfires that may impact electrical lines.
But there are some ways that you can help.
California ISO said that if Californians conserve energy between 3:00 and 9:00 p.m., that can take the strain off the state's power grid and help prevent or limit power outages.
Here are some ways you can help:
--Keep your air conditioner at 78 degrees or higher during peak hours (3:00-9:00 p.m.)
--Avoid using major appliances during peak hours
--Turn off unnecessary lights
