Man arrested in connection to grandfather’s stabbing death in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) An 80-year-old man has died as a result of a stabbing in Santa Cruz, and his grandson was arrested on murder charges.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a stabbing at around 6:45 Tuesday evening in the 700 block of Heath Cove.

When first responders got to the home, they found the 80-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck. He was taken to Dominican Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's grandson, 28-year-old Phillip Talyansky, was at the home, and he was arrested. He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on murder, elder abuse resulting in great bodily injury or death and battery charges.
