Monterey Bay Aquarium takes in marine animals evacuated from Santa Cruz County

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) The Monterey Bay Aquarium is housing more fish and other marine life evacuated from Santa Cruz County.

UC Santa Cruz's Seymour Marine Discovery Center was evacuated due to the CZU August Lightning Complex Fires, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium took in some animals.

Several marine mammals at the Long Marine Laboratory were evacuated to other locations.

The CZU August Lightning Complex Fire has burned nearly 79,000 acres and is 17% contained. In a press conference Tuesday morning, Cal Fire said crews are making good progress and weather seems to be cooperating.
