Evacuation centers and shelters on the Central Coast

Santa Cruz County

  • Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 E. Lake Ave, Watsonville

Pets are allowed at the evacuation centers in Santa Cruz County, but officials ask that the owners keep control of them and bring a pet carrier if possible. The Santa Cruz Harbor will have spaces for RVs open for fire evacuees through Oct. 31. Rigs must be self-contained and daily fees apply. To get a space, you are asked to leave a detailed message with contact information at 831-475-3279.

Those living in areas where evacuation orders have been lifted staying in hotels through FEMA's free emergency shelter must return home by Friday, according to the county.

Monterey County

  • Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza, Monterey
  • King City Library, 402 Broadway Street, King City

Dolan Fire evacuees can visit the evacuation center at the Monterey Conference Center between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Saturday. Free parking is available. Evacuees heading east can visit the evacuation center King City Library. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Evacuation centers offer emergency shelter referrals, RV vouchers for the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, information and other services.

An ID will be required for proof of residency.

Those who need help with animals can call the SPCA for Monterey County at 831-373-2631.
