Hollister police make arrest in connection to Sally Street homicide
HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 8/25/2020 11:15 a.m. Hollister police said they have arrested a man on murder charges in connection to a homicide on Sally Street.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at around 5:15 a.m. last Wednesday in the 100 block of Sally Street and found the victim, 44-year-old Daniel Cervantez. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Through leads and tips from the community, detectives identified a suspect who had been in the area that morning and was reportedly in a fight with Cervantez.
On Saturday, detectives found and arrested the suspect, 19-year-old Andrez Valencia. He was booked into the San Benito County Jail.

PREVIOUS STORY: Hollister police are investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday morning on Sally Street.
Officers were called to the 100 block for a report of someone who had been shot. Responding agencies found 44-year old Daniel Cervantez of Hollister with a gunshot wound. He died of his injuries.
Police have not identified a suspect, and they are asking for the community's help.
