WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) The suspect in a robbery at a Watsonville pharmacy, 26-year-old Elben Ramos, has been arrested in the Bay Area.

Watsonville police said Ramos allegedly went to a pharmacy on Freedom Boulevard, jumped over the counter and filled a bag with controlled substances Saturday morning.

Ramos left the area in his car, according to police, but a witness got his license plate number, which was sent to law enforcement agencies with the description of the suspect and vehicle.

Within 24 hours of the robbery, an Oakland resident reported a suspicious vehicle, and police found Ramos sleeping in the vehicle. Officers said he was still wearing a "Pink Panther" sweatshirt that he was seen wearing during the robbery, and they found a pharmacy-sized container of a controlled substance in the vehicle.

Ramos was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on robbery charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Nelson Hernandez at 831-768-3358.
