Santa Cruz County resident killed in shooting on Mission Street
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 7/29/2020 12 p.m. The Santa Cruz County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the man killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon.
He is identified as 28-year-old Juan Antonio Ruiz from Santa Cruz.
Ruiz was found with a gunshot wound in the front passenger seat of a vehicle on Mission Street. He later died at the hospital.
UPDATE 7/28/2020 6 p.m. Santa Cruz police say a 28-year-old Santa Cruz County resident was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon.
At around 1:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting victim on Mission Street north of Swift Street. When they got there, they found the victim with a gunshot wound in the front passenger seat of a vehicle.
The victim was taken to Dominican Hospital, where he died.
While police were investigating at the scene, part of Mission Street was closed. They said they found that the shooting happened at Mission Street and Fair Avenue.

UPDATE 7/28/2020 5 p.m. Santa Cruz police say Mission Street has reopened following a shooting.
Police say more details about the incident will be released soon.
