Person seriously injured after falling into trench in Boulder Creek

BOULDER CREEK, Calif. (KION) A person was seriously injured when they fell into a trench Tuesday morning.

The Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire Department said the person fell into a 7 foot deep hole and said it was a challenging rescue.

Volunteer firefighters along with Cal Fire and AMR modified shoring to make sure the hole did not collapse before bringing the victim out of the hole.

The department said trench rescues can be dangerous to rescuers, so they need to take extra precautions.
