29-year-old Aromas resident dies in crash involving tractor trailer

SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 6/22/2020 4 p.m. A 29-year-old man from Aromas has died as a result of a crash involving a tractor trailer.

According tho the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2018 Honda Civic west on SR 129 west of Highway 101. At the same time, a 45-year-old Vacaville man was driving a Peterbilt tractor trailer heading east.

For an unknown reason, the CHP said the victim's vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane of traffic.

As a result, the victim crashed head-on into the front of the tractor trailer.

The CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs are a factor, but the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Kline at 408-848-2324.

The CHP said the crash happened on SR 129 in the River Oaks area. KION's crew heading to the scene says SR 129 is closed starting at Highway 101.
